As much as I hate to use fear as a motivator — being that I’m not Republican — there is a real and serious possibility that Trump might actually nab the election. Take the recent example of Comey’s useful ignorance. One or two more like that could turn this big piggy bank of a nation over to Boy Donald. Or at least that’s the fear. I’m hearing it from Many People.
The only way we could survive such an occurrence would be if the Democrats can win majorities in the House and Senate, and thus put in place some stopping power. And even then it will be touch and go…or until there’s a fire in the chambers, in which case it won’t matter.
So that, there is the new talking point. We’ll need to find some counterweight to the shock and awe that will be the Trump presidency, and the way to do that will be to win downballot races.
I’m serious. This is a thing we have to consider. I wonder if the dems would dare put together an ad or two, going on the “What If?” theme. Or maybe a whisper campaign.
Unprecedented? Yes. Like everything else that’s happening with this election.
